Terms of Use
Last updated October 8, 2026
These terms cover the Clicker app and this website, clicker.jarv.is. Both are made by Jake Jarvis, and "Clicker" in these terms means the app, the site and the person who makes them. By downloading or using the app, or using this site, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use them.
The license
Clicker is free, open-source software released under the MIT License. The license governs your rights to use, copy, modify and distribute the source code and the app, and nothing in these terms takes those rights away. If these terms and the license ever disagree about the software, the license wins.
Using Clicker
Clicker is a remote control for Apple TVs on your own network. Please use it:
- only with Apple TVs you own or have permission to control,
- in line with the laws that apply to you, and
- in line with Apple's terms for your Apple TV and for the services and apps you open on it.
Clicker works by speaking the protocol Apple's own remotes use. Apple doesn't document or support that protocol for other apps, so a tvOS or macOS update could change how it behaves or stop Clicker from working, possibly until Clicker is updated, and possibly for good.
Downloads and updates
Official releases are signed with Clicker's Apple Developer ID, notarized by Apple, and published on GitHub Releases. Clicker's built-in updater only installs updates signed with Clicker's own update key. Copies from anywhere else, or builds you compile yourself, aren't official releases, and Clicker can't vouch for them.
Clicker checks for updates as described in the Privacy Policy. It's free, so updates come when they come: Clicker doesn't promise any particular fixes, features, support or release schedule, and development may stop at any time.
Apple
Clicker is an independent project and isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Apple Inc. Apple, Apple TV, macOS, tvOS and Siri are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries. They're mentioned here only to describe what Clicker works with.
The name and icon
The MIT License covers Clicker's code. It doesn't give you the right to use the Clicker name or icon to suggest that a modified version, or anything else, comes from or is endorsed by Clicker.
This website
You're welcome to read, link to and share this site. Please don't try to disrupt it, overload it or get around its security. The site's source code is part of the Clicker repository and is covered by the same license.
No warranty
Clicker and this site are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Clicker doesn't promise that the app will work with your Apple TV, keep working after a software update, be free of bugs, or do anything in particular. You use it at your own risk.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Clicker won't be liable for any claim, damages or other liability arising from Clicker or this site, or from using or being unable to use them, whether in contract, tort or otherwise. That includes indirect, incidental, special, consequential and punitive damages, and lost data or profits. Some places don't allow certain warranties or liabilities to be excluded, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Where that's the case, these terms limit them as far as the law permits.
Third-party services
Clicker and this site rely on services run by others, including GitHub, which hosts the source code, downloads and update feed, and Vercel, which hosts this site. Those services have their own terms, and Clicker isn't responsible for them. See the GitHub Terms of Service and the Vercel Terms of Service.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
Changes
Clicker may update these terms. The new version will be posted on this page with a new date, and every change is public in the site's source code. If you keep using Clicker or this site after a change, that means you accept the updated terms.
